Paris: Day 10

Luke had a bit of a temperature last night, and Allison still has the cold, so we slept in pretty late today and did not venture out until after lunch. Because it is the first Sunday of the month, most or all of the museums in Paris have free entrance. We decided that we wanted to spend the day at the Louvre. Luckily we had Luke in the stroller because we got to skip the long line to the escalators and go down the lift!

We got to see most of 1 of the 3 wings in the museum before Luke got very fussy. He was really crying and chewing was the only thing that was calming him down. We were checking his temperature all morning and it was not high, so it must have been either teething or extreme tiredness. Once we got him out of the stroller and I bounced him for a little while he fell asleep. We took turns holding him for most of the remaining time we spent in the museum. He finally let us put him back in his stroller before we left.

The Louvre was incredible! There were a multitude of amazing works of art, and the building itself is a work of art. Many of the ceilings had murals painted on them, and some of the floors were mosaic. We walked through the Denon wing, which housed the pre-history, Greek, and Roman pieces. It also has some French works, including the Mona Lisa. Allison's favorite pieces were the mosaics, and my favorite was the coronation of Napoleon.
